T-REX has been dead

If this battle didn't send a clear message to Smack White to stop booking Rex as a top tier dude then it never will.
I can't disrespect T-Rex too much, he used to be nice. USED to be. Back when I first started watching this. He was one of the dudes that was hot and got me into it. However I have to say for the last few years now he's been very boring to listen to. Battlers have got a lot cleverer and creative with their bars and Rex has just stood still. His speed gun bars just don't cut it anymore and they haven't for a while, for me that's been clear way before this battle. So when I heard he was up against Clips I was a little shocked. Because it was a clear mismatch and Rex hasn't belonged to battles like this for ages let alone pretty much the best battler in the URL.
So the result was obvious and not surprising. Yet I still was disappointed. I suppose part of me thought Rex would put up a half decent fight but he got bodied SO bad. It wasn't his fault really. I kinda blame Smack for setting it up in the first place.
Now it's time for Rex to take a back seat. He's done. Maybe take up a role elsewhere in the URL or go back to the drawing board and come back with a new style, but I can't see THAT happening.
Clipse was on great form, he took all three rounds easily, and Rex really couldn't hide behind his grown man bars, cause they got tore the fuck down. No more top tier Rex anymore Smack. This battle tells you why.

[My Verdict: Clips by a landslide]

THAT'S LIGHT!!

So I've been kinda absent from posting for a while because I aint seen any battles that I've really wanted to talk about. But this one was a must. Also the Illmac battle which i might post about as well. This one was fuckin on some electrifying shit. Two dudes with pretty different styles. On the one hand Roc is all about gun bars and aggression where as Clipse comes a bit more clever and has that charisma. He also showed in this battle that he's extremely versatile. He came alot more aggressive in this one and in the first round out barred Roc quite convincingly. Roc's first went hard but Clipse was on another level with his.

The second was really close. So close that it came down to Clipse having a minor stumble and Tay not. That's the thing about Tay Roc, his delivery is just too nice. So the third, Roc was ill, but Clipse just had the better angles that made him the better man. So he edged the third too, even with a slight stumble again but it wasn't enough of a fuck up to give Roc the round although some disagree. I like both of these guys equally and it would be cool if Roc broke Clipse winning streak but it just didn't happen. Roc had all his usual stuff which was fire but Clipse came with hard bars and came pretty aggressive aswell. Which he needed to to counter act Rocs style.

Dope, dope battle. Despite the title of this post there weren't nothing light about it.

[My Verdict: Clipse 2-1]

Arcane won

That's the title of this blog post because the anti-Arcaners will say otherwise because they hate him for what he did. I still say he'd have won the chain without the bought bars. He's much better than Cheddar and he destroyed Dizaster without any help. For me, that case is closed. Arcane won this battle aswell. His first round was better than DNA's who's angles to me felt a bit boring. DNA picked it up in the second he had a nice flip on Arcanes 1st round closer and kept momentum to take the round. But in the third he again fell flat. Especially with his slogans. He needs to cut that shit out. It really is boring and wastes valuable time he could have had to construct a few more decent bars to close out his verse.

Arcanes third was ill. He just came with facts about DNA's career thus far. I was feeling it. Even though I like DNA, from a certain perspective Arcane raised some good points about DNA and his battle patterns and habits. I felt he picked him apart as he tends to do so well to take the third. The crowd were awful. I think there seems to be a bit of an excitement lull at KOTD and it's affecting the battles which have kept their quality.

What's next for Arcane? Seeing as he did beat Pat and now DNA... I think he should be given a shot at Clipse or even a rematch against Charron. I think that would be interesting. Arcane is definately one of the best in the game right now. He has been for a while.

[My Verdict 2-1 Arcane]

O'shea edges it

Home crowd aside. I'd give this to O'Shea. I though Big J took round 2 with his personals on O'Shea's girl but his failing was not taking his rounds far enough in terms of length. He stopped short in all 3 and for me didn't do enough to win the battle. O'Shea had way more content and some freestyling thrown in and both were entertaining I just though O'Shea brought more to the table.

[My Verdict 2-1 O'Shea]

100 Bulletz was right 'it was light'

I thought J-Pro came in to this much stronger. You could just see he was more hungry in his delivery. Bulletz had some clever lines but for me they just didn't hit hard enough. It just seemed light. Bulletz needs to step it up from this to get back where he was. Hasn't seemed as hot since he got bodied by Arcane last year. He just seemed to rhyme alot but not much umph coming out of it. J-Pro wins on harder bars and far superior delivery and clowning not only him but the people he fucks with.

[My Verdict J-Pro 3-0]

Charron a little off

Big disappointment this one. Less from the performances but more for the KOTD crowd. They seemed to be asleep the entire battle. I was expecting a raucous atmosphere in there but it was flatter then teenage tits.
I thought they both were solid, Charron was on point as usual and Thesaurus was good aswell. I can't really say alot more than that. Because there was nothing more to it. Neither battler outperformed they were just solid. First round I'd give to Charron. Mainly because Thesaurus had a small stumble and besides that there was little to choose between them. Saurus got back on his horse in the second and the third to take the battle.
I was surprised at how it turned out. Not only was I underwhelmed by the battle as a whole but Thesaurus took it. Back in my predictions, I had Charron taking all three, but he just didn't hit the heights he has done in previous battles. I think that's partly because he hasn't faced anyone quite on the lyrical level as Thesaurus. And perhaps, Charron was exposed a little as being not as good as we all thought he was. Charron fans might say he has one eye on the chain and didn't prepare so much. If that's the case I think he f'ed up. Motherfuckers should be putting 100% in to every battle. That's how you get remembered. And feared. Pat will be looking at this with a smile.

[My Verdict 2-1 Thesaurus]

Conceited served a full Clipse

This battle started off hot. Conceited had a really good first round with his usual clever bars, and a triple meaning on one of his legendary 'slow it down' punchlines that was off the hook. I thought he'd set himself up to take the first round. Then Clipse stepped up with some pretty solid schemes. Nothing that I thought was enough to top Con's closer. But then, he starts to freestyle and with it, totally flips Con's closer on its head with some genius shit. He also styles on him about going over the time limit to close it out, and to win the first round in epic fashion.
From there Con struggled to get back on his shit. He'd lost momentum and the crowd, after Clipse had just miraculously out done him in the first. He was alright in the second still, but when Clipse stepped up to spit his he had further punishment to dish out. He had a good angle on Conceited dick riding celebrities and another impressive freestyle toward the end. Compared with Clipse in the second, I thought Con was a little light and a bit cute with it.
The third wasn't that good from either cos Clipse had a stumble toward the end, and Con spat more light bars and continued to lose the crowd. However I'd give this round to Con. Just because he didn't stumble and therefore was more polished.
In the end that didn't matter, Con was dead in two and Clipse looks like a god damn monster these days. That first round flip was something of god status and his freestyle game is off the chain. He's on a legendary killing spree right now. Who's gonna stop him? Charron? Pffft! Bitch please.

[My Verdict 2-1 Charlie Clipse]

Tycoon Taxed

This was a nice battle but honestly I was expecting more from Tax. I've been pretty impressed with his battles so far but in this one he wan't so hot. That could be a slip in standard or the fact that Rum Nitty just made him look average. This battle was a little bit of a gun bar fest. Which Rum totally out barred him. He came with a more fiery performance too. This was a white wash.

[My Verdict 3-0 Rum Nitty]

Happy birthday Bam

So a couple of weekends ago I attended my first rap battle at Brixton Jamm for Bamalam's birthday bash and Don't Flops 'Raise a glass' event. Unan was supposed to be on the card but I didn't know he cancelled until I spoke to one of the regulars in there. Which pissed me off.
So I was forced to watch amateurs the whole night. Nah, I'm messing there was some decent battlers in there and an awesome freestyle face off between Arkaic and Dotz. All in all a decent little night. I Met Eurgh, Cruger, Bamalam and Mr. 13 who seems like a bit of a wanker. He was pissed out his head so I'll allow him for now.
Anyway enough about that let me break down the other battles and how I saw them. I arrived at the third battle in, and it was Frankie Phraser vs Gemini. I don't know much about these guys but Gemini was much better. In all three rounds. It was a bodybag and would be good to see Gemini step up to something bigger.

[My Verdict 3-0 Gemini]

Next up was Sleepy Gee vs Willzy. This was very close. I was told by one of the guys in there that Willzy was a force to be reckoned with but he wasn't hugely impressive. He was good though but so was Sleepy Gee. Willzy had a stumble in the second I think so lost that round to Sleepy who was pretty consistent through out. But when Willzy spat a clean round he was just a bit more effective. And he spat two clean rounds to win it.

[My Verdict 2-1 Willzy]

Then it was Bloodstro, a mancunian who is known for getting smashed by Lunar C and then quitting rap facing Big J. It was very one sided I thought. Bloodstro just didn't say anything very entertaining or hurtful and Big J had some great jokes and a line about Villun that had the place crackin up. Big J body bag.

[My Verdict 3-0 Big J]

Finally, it was the freestlyle battle between Arkaic and Dotz. These guys are really talented. It's great to see this sort of thing live. A raw freestyle battle where pictures are projected on a wall and they have to use whatever it is to diss their opponent. And they got to do it on beat. Some great improvised lines came out of it and it was a good way to cap off the night. Who won? Dotz. Definately. But a great effort from both. I don't recall a formatted set of rounds for this one.

[My Verdict Dotz]

Lux v Hollow - Tough Call

I've had to watch this battle about four times to make a decision. With my final verdict I still feel like I may be wrong but here's how I see it. The first round was really close, I'd say Lux edged it, his Drake scheme was the business and he had some other hot lines in there. Hollow didn't have anything that quite reached the heights despite a gassed up crowd for him.
The second round I felt Lux was taking a little long to get to his punches. Hollow was more potent in the second. He started to break down Lux rhyme style with a 'Just because you don't understand him, doesn't make him nice' approach which worked really well because there's a lot of truth to that statement about Lux. So Hollow won the second round. The third is probably the most debatable. I kinda felt that Lux third was a lot like his second though, I wasn't hearing a lot of new stuff and for me it got a little boring if I'm going to be super critical. I wanted him to get to the point a bit quicker. It kind of felt like he was throwing and connecting with a lot of jabs but no knock out blows. Hollow was a lot more engaging. I thought he had a better angle on Lux. Where Lux went on a rant about Hollows supposed but I feel unfounded drug problem, Hollow came a little more realistic about Lux preachy attitude and broke him down that way. Not to mention a well timed human prop toward the end. For me, Hollow took it in the third. Just. Great, great battle. And a great job from the Dinananon to topple such a legend as Lux.

[My Verdict 2-1 Hollow Da Don]

Pat styled on Diz

What a match. Great performance especially from Pat. I said he needed to prepare properly and he did. For his efforts he kept the KOTD title and he deserved to keep it. I just don't think Diz brought enough heat to topple the champ.
So let me break it down. The first round was really close. Both funnily enough, had similar angles and if Diz didn't stumble so much I might have given this round to him. Pat was clean and polished and therefore he edged out the 1st. From here on I thought Pat really took control of proceedings. It seemed like the more Diz tried to hype up, the more Pat's chilled out relaxed swag kinda made him look like a petulant kid. Pats style and angles just seemed perfect to nullify Diz. Frankly, Pat sonned him in all three rounds. I don't mean that he destroyed him I just mean that he made Diz look immature, and it felt like he was schooling him not only in the battle but in how you handle yourself in everyday life. Diz would always comes aggressive with his shit and he was nice, but as I said Pat just won out by fathering him, out doing him in terms of content and style. His tactics were perfect. For me, he won every round, not by much but he did.

[My Verdict 3-0 Pat. No body bag]

UW - Daylight spazzing

Spazzing literally, off of those pills he's been talking about. He basically brought a show with him. With human props and a whole Matrix theme. The guys so odd and awkward but you can't help but watch his battles cos he's always doing something different to most niggas.

I was a little bit disappointed with Magic. He could have kept up the innovation of the battle by at least coming up with some intelligent flips off of Day's antics but he didn't. He just went straight into his bars. However his bars were better and his performance was polished. His last round was a little weak but he'd already won the battle by then. I look forward to Day's next drop. Which is kind of a weird thing to say seeing as he lost this battle but that guy is bananas, and I'm starting to think he's bigger than this battle scene. Nigga needs his own show or somethin.

[My verdict: 2-1 B Magic]

No sweat for Unan

This was another great performance from Unanymous. His first round was very good, lots of content and aggression and hard bars. All it needed was for Chris Leese to show up which he didn't. Off the bat I was expecting the type of performance he put in against Tony D but he dropped short of the mark. Nowhere near as aggressive and he choked hard in the 1st and from that, early on he had to work hard to get some momentum back. With Unan not really letting up and being very consistent, hard hitting and aggressive and Chris not really saying anything special apart from a few jokes, he couldn't get back into the battle. He did partially, but with his style he needs to be firing off all cylinders to challenge dudes of Unans stature and in the end, disappointingly, it fell flat for him.
He also literally tried to wipe ball sweat on Unan in the third and that, understandably pissed Unan right off to the point he was telling Chris 'your lucky we're in here'.
Handbags (and ball bags) aside, this was an easy win for Unan. They wanted it to be 'promo' but fuck all that pussy ass shit. I judge. Unan took this, no ball sweat.

[My verdict: 3-0 Unanymous]

Dirtbag Dan get's the full Clipse

This was pretty easy to judge. Simply because Dirtbag was off, and Clipse was on point as usual. There's not much to say to be honest. Dirtbag should stop battling. Clipse needs to start battling the top top guys. He's clearly above this type of battle calibre.

[My Verdict: 3-0 Clipse]

Don't Flop Rap Battle | Worst decision ever.

Really Don't Flop judges? Really? I've seen some debatable decisions, hard decisions and bad decisions, but this was just awful.
Mr. 13, who's not great but not crap either did well. Lots's of aggression and a funny second round and a nice line about red stripe while I was drinking red stripe. However when Caustic started spittin the difference in quality was clearer than glass. Whatever 13 said, Caustic would come in and body him in every round.
For me it was a body bag. Caustic really stunned and sonned this guy and whoever thinks differently is just British. Wait, I'm British, so whoever thinks differently is British AND a dick rider, like the judges.
See, it was Mr. 13's 'last battle' before he becomes part of the Don't Flop staff. Now you see why he got the judges decision. Sympathy, and dick riding. That's all this was. And it's really pathetic, gay and childish.
If this league wants the respect it's going to have to stop with this cliquey faggot bullshit. It really pisses me off when rappers travel miles over seas and spit a great battle but get treated like shit at the end of it. I mean, who gives a fuck if it was 13's last battle? If he got bodied he got bodied. And he did. Caustic was different class and clowned dude. With that said, have a happy retirement Mr. 13. You sure will have after ending your career with such a gift as that.

[My Verdict 3-0 Caustic. Total body bag]

Was Caustic robbed? Holla back.

Blackout 4 card leak! (Predictions)

3 Days until Blackout, and I'm getting very excited. The card got leaked and I'm going to give my predictions for each battle as they came through.

Dizaster vs Pat Stay
This is the one everyone knows about and is anticipating. The mother-fucking KOTD title match between two aggressive bad guys. Pat who's the bigger of the two will have the slight physical advantage so it's going to be difficult for Diz to punk him in terms of presence and getting in his face. Having said that Diz can spit. But for me, he needs to write for this like he said he would. If he doesn't write he will lose. If he does write Pat will have to bring more than what he brought when he robbed Arcane for the chain. Pat will need to be aggressive and bring that clowning intimidating bully to the ring to top Diz lyrical game. I think he will. This one is a tough call, but if it's close they will favour Pat out there I'm sure. And it will be close.

[My Prediction: 2-1 Pat Stay]

Bender vs Big T
For me Bender has fallen off, and I never really rated him that high anyway. Big T has been on point from what I've seen and I think he'll do Bender. No homo.

[My Prediction: 2-1 Big T]

Thesaurus vs Charron
What a match up. The vet of battle rap vs the rising star. I saw one of Thesaurus recent battles and he has restored a lot of my faith in believing he can still bring that heat. Charron, has just been so polished and damaging with his stuff and battling Thesaurus he'll have a lot of ammo. He'll have to be careful not to go over the same old shit though because that could be a stumbling block. However I think he's too clever to fall into that trap. My money is on the new kid in all three, but no body bag.

[My Prediction: 3-0 Charron]

Charlie Clips vs Conceited
Two word smiths, damn this is gonna be crazy, one of the best of the night if they both bring it. It's so close to call because they're both as ill as each other. But because Charlie is slightly less formulaic in his schemes and so consistent, I think that will be the difference in breaking up Conceited.

[My Prediction: 2-1 Clips]

Shotty Horroh vs Aye Verb
I thought Shotty was retiring but obviously not. I don't think he's been out long enough to get rusty so he should be as sharp as ever. Aye Verb has really impressed me. He beat Diz not long ago and with plenty of ammo to work with, I think he will do a similar job on Shotty.

[My Prediciton: 2-1 Aye Verb]

Rone vs JC
Rone has really slacked off since getting beat by Fresco. JC did a decent job against a gassed up Tay Rock. I think JC will take this.

[My Prediction: 2-1 JC]

Osa vs RemyD
Interesting match up. I like Osa I think he's really clever and hits hard. Then you got RemyD spitting like a fucking genius lately. It'll be close. There could be an unexpected victory here. But there won't be. RemyD in all three. No body bag.

[My Prediction: 3-0 RemyD]

DNA vs Arcane
Another classic in the making. These dudes rarely dissapoint, but I think Arcane will come with some serious heat for this. He will be aching for a win after all the controversy. DNA will look to hurt him on his bought bars thing and if he puts good schemes together he could roast Arcane. However, Arcane always has something hot to say to turn the tide.

[My Prediction: 2-1 Arcane]

Bonnie Godiva vs Uno Lavoz
This will be funny as fuck, but Bonnie Godiva won't get pushed around. In fact I can see her winning. Sorry Uno.

[My Prediction: 2-1 Bonnie Godiva]

Real Deal vs Ill Will
Ill Will is nice, he had a great battle with Tay Rock and nearly took it. Then there's real Deal who lost to Ogmios in England. However I think Real Deal will come back to win this in style. For me he will have the versatility to crowd please and out gun bar will.

[My Prediction: 3-0 Real Deal]

Rich Dollaz vs Loe Pesci
For some reason I can see this one being a lot of aggression but not much entertainment. Loe is still mr stumbles, so for that reason alone it's gotta be Rich Dollaz day.

[My Prediction: 2-1 Rich Dollaz]

Yung Ill vs Fresco
Very interesting battle here. After K-Shine bodied Yung Ill who's a little rusty after coming back to the circuit, he's going to have to really bring a lot to this battle cos Fresco is clever. I think Fresco will win. Yung Ill will be well out his comfort zone and Fresco has been here before many times. His confidence will see him through. Could be a body.

[My Prediction: 3-0 Fresco]

Arsonal vs Swave Sevah
This feels like a mismatch. I like Swave and his style but I think Arsonals lyrical game will be too much for him. This has body bag written all over it.

[My Prediction: 3-0 Arsonal]

Do you agree with my predictions? Post yours.

TIGER TY IS BACK!

The Tiger swipe is back. Purely for his comedic effect. So they all like to laugh at the retard. But Ty isn't that is he. He's like a weird genius. The stuff that comes out o his mouth you just wouldn't think about but oddly makes his opponent look stupid not to mention it sounding funny in terms of wording and Ty's delivery. I did appreciate Joe Cutters bars and he was lyrically pretty good but the angles just weren't all that unique. Everyone was just wanting to hear more Ty, for whatever reason. I've tried to explain it but I just can't. Salute.

[My Verdict: Tiger Ty 3-0]

What up my Ninja!!

An all asian match up complete with asian hosts. Shout outs to Dumbfoundead but fuck Trafik he's an annoying little skeet.

Anyway, both guys went in, and I really can't decide a winner here. I thought Tantrum might have edged it with the strongest round in the battle. His Ninja mask stunt was stuff of legend but his bars in that third didn't match the mask. I thought A-Class took the third but I'm undecided on the first. It was so tight. I say Tantrum may have edged it for his second round but that's just one round. And A-Class had some great lines throughout the battle. It was a draw for me.

[My Verdict: Thai. Sorry I mean Tie]

I couldn't call it, can you?

K SHINE VS YUNG ILL SMACK/ URL

This was a K Shine body bag. This is the best I've seen him and that's saying something because he rarely under performs. he was finishing his rounds early because about halfway through them he'd already won it with a crazy scheme. The third was a little closer but by the K had really smashed Ill on his return to the battle scene. He was not ready and it showed.

[My Verdict: 3-0 K Shine]

Don't Flop Set The Standard.

Ogmios?? Who the fuck is this guy? I've never heard him battle before. A very laid back delivery style, funny, lyrical and clever. Real Deals aggression seemed to overshadow him in the first round but after that, Ogmios really just took control of the battle with superior ideas.
