This was a nice battle but honestly I was expecting more from Tax. I've been pretty impressed with his battles so far but in this one he wan't so hot. That could be a slip in standard or the fact that Rum Nitty just made him look average. This battle was a little bit of a gun bar fest. Which Rum totally out barred him. He came with a more fiery performance too. This was a white wash.
[My Verdict 3-0 Rum Nitty]

Happy birthday Bam
So a couple of weekends ago I attended my first rap battle at Brixton Jamm for Bamalam's birthday bash and Don't Flops 'Raise a glass' event. Unan was supposed to be on the card but I didn't know he cancelled until I spoke to one of the regulars in there. Which pissed me off.
So I was forced to watch amateurs the whole night. Nah, I'm messing there was some decent battlers in there and an awesome freestyle face off between Arkaic and Dotz. All in all a decent little night. I Met Eurgh, Cruger, Bamalam and Mr. 13 who seems like a bit of a wanker. He was pissed out his head so I'll allow him for now.
Anyway enough about that let me break down the other battles and how I saw them. I arrived at the third battle in, and it was Frankie Phraser vs Gemini. I don't know much about these guys but Gemini was much better. In all three rounds. It was a bodybag and would be good to see Gemini step up to something bigger.
[My Verdict 3-0 Gemini]
Next up was Sleepy Gee vs Willzy. This was very close. I was told by one of the guys in there that Willzy was a force to be reckoned with but he wasn't hugely impressive. He was good though but so was Sleepy Gee. Willzy had a stumble in the second I think so lost that round to Sleepy who was pretty consistent through out. But when Willzy spat a clean round he was just a bit more effective. And he spat two clean rounds to win it.
[My Verdict 2-1 Willzy]
Then it was Bloodstro, a mancunian who is known for getting smashed by Lunar C and then quitting rap facing Big J. It was very one sided I thought. Bloodstro just didn't say anything very entertaining or hurtful and Big J had some great jokes and a line about Villun that had the place crackin up. Big J body bag.
[My Verdict 3-0 Big J]
Finally, it was the freestlyle battle between Arkaic and Dotz. These guys are really talented. It's great to see this sort of thing live. A raw freestyle battle where pictures are projected on a wall and they have to use whatever it is to diss their opponent. And they got to do it on beat. Some great improvised lines came out of it and it was a good way to cap off the night. Who won? Dotz. Definately. But a great effort from both. I don't recall a formatted set of rounds for this one.
[My Verdict Dotz]

Lux v Hollow - Tough Call
I've had to watch this battle about four times to make a decision. With my final verdict I still feel like I may be wrong but here's how I see it. The first round was really close, I'd say Lux edged it, his Drake scheme was the business and he had some other hot lines in there. Hollow didn't have anything that quite reached the heights despite a gassed up crowd for him.
The second round I felt Lux was taking a little long to get to his punches. Hollow was more potent in the second. He started to break down Lux rhyme style with a 'Just because you don't understand him, doesn't make him nice' approach which worked really well because there's a lot of truth to that statement about Lux. So Hollow won the second round. The third is probably the most debatable. I kinda felt that Lux third was a lot like his second though, I wasn't hearing a lot of new stuff and for me it got a little boring if I'm going to be super critical. I wanted him to get to the point a bit quicker. It kind of felt like he was throwing and connecting with a lot of jabs but no knock out blows. Hollow was a lot more engaging. I thought he had a better angle on Lux. Where Lux went on a rant about Hollows supposed but I feel unfounded drug problem, Hollow came a little more realistic about Lux preachy attitude and broke him down that way. Not to mention a well timed human prop toward the end. For me, Hollow took it in the third. Just. Great, great battle. And a great job from the Dinananon to topple such a legend as Lux.
[My Verdict 2-1 Hollow Da Don]

Pat styled on Diz
What a match. Great performance especially from Pat. I said he needed to prepare properly and he did. For his efforts he kept the KOTD title and he deserved to keep it. I just don't think Diz brought enough heat to topple the champ.
So let me break it down. The first round was really close. Both funnily enough, had similar angles and if Diz didn't stumble so much I might have given this round to him. Pat was clean and polished and therefore he edged out the 1st. From here on I thought Pat really took control of proceedings. It seemed like the more Diz tried to hype up, the more Pat's chilled out relaxed swag kinda made him look like a petulant kid. Pats style and angles just seemed perfect to nullify Diz. Frankly, Pat sonned him in all three rounds. I don't mean that he destroyed him I just mean that he made Diz look immature, and it felt like he was schooling him not only in the battle but in how you handle yourself in everyday life. Diz would always comes aggressive with his shit and he was nice, but as I said Pat just won out by fathering him, out doing him in terms of content and style. His tactics were perfect. For me, he won every round, not by much but he did.
[My Verdict 3-0 Pat. No body bag]

UW - Daylight spazzing
Spazzing literally, off of those pills he's been talking about. He basically brought a show with him. With human props and a whole Matrix theme. The guys so odd and awkward but you can't help but watch his battles cos he's always doing something different to most niggas.
I was a little bit disappointed with Magic. He could have kept up the innovation of the battle by at least coming up with some intelligent flips off of Day's antics but he didn't. He just went straight into his bars. However his bars were better and his performance was polished. His last round was a little weak but he'd already won the battle by then. I look forward to Day's next drop. Which is kind of a weird thing to say seeing as he lost this battle but that guy is bananas, and I'm starting to think he's bigger than this battle scene. Nigga needs his own show or somethin.
[My verdict: 2-1 B Magic]

No sweat for Unan
This was another great performance from Unanymous. His first round was very good, lots of content and aggression and hard bars. All it needed was for Chris Leese to show up which he didn't. Off the bat I was expecting the type of performance he put in against Tony D but he dropped short of the mark. Nowhere near as aggressive and he choked hard in the 1st and from that, early on he had to work hard to get some momentum back. With Unan not really letting up and being very consistent, hard hitting and aggressive and Chris not really saying anything special apart from a few jokes, he couldn't get back into the battle. He did partially, but with his style he needs to be firing off all cylinders to challenge dudes of Unans stature and in the end, disappointingly, it fell flat for him.
He also literally tried to wipe ball sweat on Unan in the third and that, understandably pissed Unan right off to the point he was telling Chris 'your lucky we're in here'.
Handbags (and ball bags) aside, this was an easy win for Unan. They wanted it to be 'promo' but fuck all that pussy ass shit. I judge. Unan took this, no ball sweat.
[My verdict: 3-0 Unanymous]

Dirtbag Dan get's the full Clipse
This was pretty easy to judge. Simply because Dirtbag was off, and Clipse was on point as usual. There's not much to say to be honest. Dirtbag should stop battling. Clipse needs to start battling the top top guys. He's clearly above this type of battle calibre.
[My Verdict: 3-0 Clipse]
