URL: Crowd Mess Up Arsonal, Tay Rock rockin'
Let's get into some URL reviews. I watched a couple battles lastnight. The first was Arsonal vs K-Shine.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post here, those URL crowds are fucking annoying and mad disrespectful. Basically their attitude goes like this: 'If you ain't from New York, or don't spend all your time battling on URL, then fuck you.' They basically hate on anyone who they percieve as an outsider. No other leagues have such a harsh crowd culture.
So, Arsonal in the first round was getting right in K-Shines face and the crowd were kind of feeling him at this stage, I mean he was bullying Shine, physically and verbally in that first round. Much to K-Shines discontent. K-Shine came back pretty weak in comparison and definitely lost the first.
The second Arsonal was doing much of the same but the crowd weren't reacting as much, and I think it was a weaker round in terms of content to his first.
On K-Shines turn he pulled 'the midget' stunt and the crowd went bananas. I would say he probably edged that round as he upped his content a bit and clearly won over the crowd with that hilarious stunt. From then on there was nothing Arsonal could do. The crowd had already decided the winner from round two and everything Arsonal spat fell on boo's from the crowd. Which affected his performance. He handled it ok, but it got to him and it killed the buzz he had coming into the battle.
K-Shine then took it on, I would say his bars were pretty much on par with Ars but he outperformed him with the crowd behind him.
It was kind of a shame. It was set up to be a far better finale had the crowd not totally messed up the vibe of the thing. If they let Ars do his thing he might have won it but more importantly it would have been a better spectacle to see a rapper spitting without the heckling. For me this happens way too often at the URL. These guys are putting on a show and they show no respect for that. SMFH.
[My Verdict: 2-1 K-Shine]
The next was Tay Rock vs Ill Will, and yo, I gotta say I enjoyed this one a lot more and the quality of the bars were better even though these two guys are seen as lower in the pecking order.
Sometimes, you get those battles when both niggas are just thrashing out the gun bars and a lot of generic gangster shit but still making it sounds hot.
I usually fall asleep on this type of content but both were doing it in a way that the shit kept me interested. I enjoyed this battle. Alot. It was literally a gun bar fest but it was funny. Both dudes going in and really smacking the shit out of each other. Tay had a more serious approach where as Ill Will (I feel like I should say RIP whenever I type that) had a more comedic style especially as the battle went on. Although that was cool, I felt Tay edged the battle. I think Ill won the first but towards the end of Tays second round he started to spazz. He finished that second strong, shit was fucking fire. And he carried that heat through into the third that kept Ill Will at bay. It was close as fuck, and although Tay Rock would beg to differ, this shit was definitely not light.
[My Verdict: 2-1 Tay Rock]
What do you think? Do some rappers deserve to be booed? And who do think took these battles? Post your opinion.
